[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park No-hoon] Seo Nong-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin City announced that it is recruiting residents to participate in a non-contact walking event held on the 20th in celebration of Lunar New Year.

This event is being held for the second consecutive year by the Seo Nong-dong Organization Leaders Council and will be conducted in a non-contact manner through the WalkOn walking app to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Any resident of Seo Nong-dong can participate in this event.

To participate, download the 'WalkOn' app from the Play Store or App Store and join the 'Seo Nong-dong Non-Contact Walking Community'. Then apply for individual participation on the challenge screen and walk on your own while carrying a smartphone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 20th.

The district plans to select participants who achieve a target of 10,000 steps or more or those who write a wish message through the WalkOn app and present them with prizes.

The winner drawing will be held on the 26th, Lunar New Year's Day, and prizes provided were arranged through Samsung Electronics sponsorship.

Council Chairman Kwon Young-ji said, "We will conduct the event while adhering to individual quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19" and added, "We hope this becomes an opportunity to add health and vitality to residents' weary daily lives through walking."

Meanwhile, this event held by the district in October last year for residents exhausted by COVID-19 drew participation from approximately 1,000 residents and received a positive response.
