Seo-nong-dong, Yongin City to Hold Non-Contact Walking Event for Lunar New Year
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park No-hoon] Seo-nong-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin City announced it is recruiting residents to participate in a non-contact walking event to celebrate the Lunar New Year on the 20th.
The event, being held for the second consecutive year by the Seo-nong-dong Organization Leaders Council, will proceed in a non-contact format through the walking app WorkOn to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Any resident of Seo-nong-dong can participate in the event.
To participate, residents should download the 'WorkOn' app from the Play Store or App Store and register for the 'Seo-nong-dong Residents Non-Contact Walking Community.' Afterward, participants should apply for the challenge on the challenge screen and walk individually while carrying a smartphone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 20th.
The district plans to select participants who achieve a daily step goal of 10,000 steps or more or write a wish message through the WorkOn app, and will present them with prizes.
The winner drawing will be held on the 26th, the Lunar New Year day, and the prizes were provided through Samsung Electronics' sponsorship.
Council Chair Kwon Young-ji said, "We will proceed with the event while observing personal quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19," and added, "We hope this walking event will provide an opportunity to add health and vitality to residents' weary daily lives."
Meanwhile, when the district held this event in October last year for residents exhausted by COVID-19, approximately 1,000 residents participated and received significant positive response.
