Paldal-gu Holds 'Resident Autonomy Committee Meeting Time'
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Paldal-gu District in Suwon held a 'Resident Autonomy Committee Meeting Time' on the 16th at the District Office Situation Room, with about 20 resident autonomy committee chairs and office directors from each dong in attendance.
They shared information on the city and district government promotion plans for 2020, benchmarking for capacity enhancement of the resident autonomy committee council, and compliance with the Public Official Election Act regarding the 21st National Assembly elections. The council's annual plans were also discussed.
District Chief Kwon Chan-ho, meeting with the council for the first time since taking office, said, "We will do our best to prepare for the full implementation of Suwon-style resident autonomy committees and ensure that the flower of resident autonomy, which is at the core of decentralization of self-governance, blooms in the community. We ask that the Paldal-gu Resident Autonomy Committee Council play a central role in 2020 city and district government activities."
Kim Yun-jae, president of the Paldal-gu Resident Autonomy Committee Council, said, "We recognize the need for capacity enhancement in preparation for the full implementation of resident autonomy committees in 2021, and we will take the lead proactively with the understanding that residents are the main actors in promoting city and district government policies."
Meanwhile, the Paldal-gu Resident Autonomy Committee Council plans to visit Funbillage Cooperative in the Gunsan Modern History District on the 31st, which has achieved legalization of urban-style guesthouses, to benchmark village enterprise operations in building a positive-circulation economic community.
