Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-sun Inspects Dual River Water Leisure Project Site
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-sun inspected the water leisure project sites along the Jinwi and Anseong rivers on the 26th.
▲ Construction project for (tentatively named) Pyeongtaek Sunset Recreation Park (around Gunmun Bridge in Pyeongtaek-dong and Pingsong-eup) ▲ Construction site for Oseong Nuri Square (around Pingsong Bridge in Oseong-myeon) ▲ Expatriate Garden (Danggeo-ri, Oseong-myeon) were the main focus areas.
Mayor Jung inspected the sites of the "Oseong Riverside Renaissance Project Activation" and "Pyeongtaek South Anseong River Levee Citizen Recreation Area Development," both promoted as campaign pledges for his seventh term of elected government, and gave detailed instructions.
"If we create water leisure spaces by utilizing the abundant waterfront resources around the Jinwi and Anseong rivers, we can provide much-needed recreational facilities," Mayor Jung stated. "I urge that the project be pursued expeditiously so citizens can conveniently use it as a rest and leisure space."
Following the Integrated Master Plan for Dual River Water Leisure Use established in 2018, the city plans to construct swimming pools, camping facilities, and sports facilities on approximately 300,000 square meters of high embankment land along the Anseong River in Pingsong-eup and Pyeongtaek-dong for the "(tentatively named) Pyeongtaek Sunset Recreation Park." For "Oseong Nuri Square," the city plans to develop a park, observation deck, and water play area on 130,000 square meters around Changnae-ri in Oseong-myeon by 2022.
