Gyeonggi Provincial Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "I am such an enthusiastic baseball fan that in high school I even learned baseball scoring and kept records of games. I am very much looking forward to the match between the KT Wiz, a rising powerhouse that won the championship last year, and the KIA Tigers with 40 years of tradition." He added, "I hope the people of the province, who have been going through difficult times due to COVID-19 and economic crisis, will find healing time through a wonderful game."
Meanwhile, since 2019, Gyeonggi Province has been operating the 'Gyeonggi Independent Baseball League,' which provides opportunities for players who failed to advance to the professional level or retired players to make a comeback. Over four years, the province has advanced a total of 17 players to the professional level, carrying out projects to revitalize baseball in Gyeonggi Province.
