Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council's First 'Dialogue with Citizens' Held Without Filter

The Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council (President Kim Mi-kyung) held the ‘1st Open Governance, Dialogue with Citizens’ in the lobby on the first floor of the Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council on the 14th, creating a time for communication by directly listening to diverse voices from citizens.

The Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council has been collecting opinions and suggestions from citizens through various channels including the homepage ‘Requests to the Council’. The 13th Council took a step further from existing communication methods and held this occasion for the first time to directly sit down with citizens and exchange opinions.

The first dialogue was conducted on the theme of ‘Requests to the 13th Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council’, and citizens freely shared opinions on the roles they hope the council will play, inconveniences in daily life, and policies that require priority implementation in the region.

The event was attended by about 100 people including President Kim Mi-kyung and Vice President Yoo Jae-kwang, Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council members, related government officials, and citizens who participated through advance registration. Council members directly listened to citizens' stories and examined local issues and policy tasks together.

The Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council plans to share the citizens' opinions presented on this day with related departments and actively consider them in future legislative activities and policy review processes.

President Kim Mi-kyung stated, “While we have listened to citizens' opinions through various channels so far, we now want to sit down directly and have conversations to hear more closely what kind of council citizens hope for and what roles they expect.” She added, “We will faithfully incorporate these precious opinions into our legislative activities and continue to communicate with citizens going forward to create a ‘council that opens together with citizens, citizens, and citizens’.”

Beginning with this ‘1st Open Governance, Dialogue with Citizens’, the Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council plans to continuously expand opportunities for communication by directly meeting citizens and listening to diverse opinions.
