Suwon Metropolitan City Council Holds First 'Dialogue with Citizens' to Gather Unfiltered Voices

The Suwon Metropolitan City Council (President Kim Mi-kyung) held the ‘First Open Governance, Dialogue with Citizens’ in the lobby of Suwon Metropolitan City Council on the 14th, creating a time for communication to directly hear the diverse voices of citizens.

The Suwon Metropolitan City Council has been collecting opinions and suggestions from citizens through various channels, including the website section ‘Requests to the Council.’ The 13th Council took a step further from existing communication methods by arranging this first opportunity to sit down directly with citizens and exchange views.

The first dialogue was conducted under the theme of ‘Requests to the 13th Suwon Metropolitan City Council,’ and citizens freely shared their opinions on the roles they expect from the council, inconveniences in daily life, and priority policies needed in the region.

The event was attended by approximately 100 people, including Council President Kim Mi-kyung, Vice President Yoo Jae-kwang, Suwon Metropolitan City Council members, related government officials, and citizens who participated through advance registration. Council members directly listened to citizens’ concerns and examined local issues and policy agendas together.

The Suwon Metropolitan City Council plans to share the citizens’ opinions presented on the day with related departments and actively consider them in future legislative activities and policy review processes.

Council President Kim Mi-kyung stated, “While we have listened to citizens’ opinions through various channels, we now wish to sit down directly and hear what citizens envision for the council and its role from a closer perspective,” and added, “We will faithfully reflect the valuable opinions in our legislative activities and will continue to communicate with citizens to build a ‘Council Opening Together with Citizens, Citizens, Citizens.’”

Starting with this ‘First Open Governance, Dialogue with Citizens,’ the Suwon Metropolitan City Council plans to continuously expand opportunities for communication by meeting directly with citizens and hearing their diverse opinions.
