Osan City Holds Public Hearing on Environmental Impact Assessment for Hwaseong Dongtan 2 Water Quality Restoration Center

Osan City held a 'Hwaseong Dongtan 2 Water Quality Restoration Center Environmental Impact Assessment Public Hearing' on the 31st at the City Hall Mulhyang-gi Room, supervised by LH Corporation.
Approximately 100 people attended the public hearing, including Osan Mayor Gwak Sang-wook, civic organizations such as Osan Environmental Movement Association, and Osan citizens.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Gwak Sang-wook stated that "while the Hwaseong Dongtan 2 Water Quality Restoration Center is a necessary facility for wastewater treatment in Dongtan 2 New Town and Dongtan Industrial Complex, it is closely related to water quality issues in the Osan Stream main channel, which is the lifeblood of Osan City, and thus we request that the continuously demanded improvements in effluent water quality standards be reflected in the environmental impact assessment."
In particular, Park Hye-jeong, Secretary General of the Osan Environmental Movement Association, who appeared as a panelist for residents, and citizens attending the public hearing demanded that the final effluent water quality of the Hwaseong Dongtan 2 Water Quality Restoration Center be reduced to BOD 3.7ppm and T-P 0.2ppm or lower.
National Assembly Member Ahn Min-seok (Democratic Party, Osan) who attended the public hearing said, "For the improvement of water quality in Osan Stream, I will continue to cooperate not only with the National Assembly but also with central government ministries, Gyeonggi Province, and LH Corporation."
