Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young: "I will play a role in establishing the 52-hour weekly work system for buses"
[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Kang Han-seo] Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young stated, "The hardships caused by the implementation of the 52-hour weekly work system for buses must be shared together."
Mayor Yeom said at the 'July Expanded Executive Meeting and Communication Conference' held at the Suwon Convention Center Event Hall on the 18th, "When the 52-hour weekly work system for buses begins, bus workers, bus companies, and bus users will all face difficulties," emphasizing that "nevertheless, the 52-hour weekly work system is essential for a 'safe society' and 'life with evenings.'"
He added, "Our city will play a role in ensuring that the 52-hour weekly work system settles stably," and "We will gather citizens' opinions and find ways to share the burden."
Mayor Yeom also said, "Recently, there have been many things that have demonstrated our country's strength to the world," adding, "There are many hopeful signs, but negative indicators are being highlighted, and I believe citizens' spirits are being broken."
Examples of demonstrating the country's strength included the 'FIFA U-20 World Cup runner-up finish,' 'BTS's performance at Wembley Stadium in the UK,' and 'Director Bong Joon-ho's Palme d'Or for 'Parasite' at the Cannes Film Festival.'

Mayor Yeom Tae-young said, "Suwon City, a basic local government, has accomplished tasks that even the central government and metropolitan local governments have not been able to do, such as producing replica copies of the Jeongni-Uigwe and opening the Suwon High Court and Prosecutor's Office."
Kim Boo-gyeom (former Minister of Interior and Safety), who served as a speaker at the communication conference, delivered a lecture on the theme of 'Korea we will create: Overcoming polarization and moving toward a society of coexistence.'
Rep. Kim pointed out 'polarization' as a contradiction in Korean society, stating, "If the 20th-century keywords for national development were 'competition, efficiency, and growth,' the Korea we must create going forward is a safe and happy society of coexistence."
