Baek Un-seok, Suwon City Vice Mayor, Urges Thorough Safety Management of Facilities in Preparation for Extreme Heat
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kang Han-seo] Baek Un-seok, Vice Mayor of Suwon City, visited the old Maedan Market in Yeongdeungpo-gu and Sukji Park on the 2nd to conduct a safety inspection of facilities in preparation for extreme heat.
Vice Mayor Baek, along with approximately 10 related officials including Jo Jin-haeng, Director of the Suwon City Civil Safety Division, carefully examined the proper operation of the cooling fog system installed at the old Maedan Market and the operational status of the water play area at Sukji Park.
"Traditional markets and urban parks are places that many citizens visit during hot weather, making safety management particularly important," Vice Mayor Baek said. "Please ensure thorough facility safety management through consistent inspections and deployment of safety personnel."
The cooling fog system installed at the old Maedan Market last year sprays fine water particles through specially designed nozzles, lowering the surrounding temperature by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.
The city plans to additionally install cooling fog at Motgol Market in Paldal-gu by the end of this month.
The Sukji Park water play area, which opens for the first time this year, will operate until the end of next month. It will not operate on Mondays when the water tanks are cleaned and on rainy days.
