'2019 Basic Income Public Deliberation Empathy Concert' to Be Held on the 31st

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Nohun] The '2019 Basic Income Public Deliberation Empathy Concert' will be held on the 31st at 2 p.m. in Conference Room 1 of the New Building of Gyeonggi Province Government Complex, with around 200 participants including residents, municipal heads, provincial assembly members, and relevant experts.
This empathy concert has been organized to share the results and significance of the public deliberation survey, which was conducted for the first time by Gyeonggi Province, and to expand consensus regarding basic income, the agenda of the public deliberation survey.

At the empathy concert, residents and relevant experts who participated in the basic income public deliberation survey results report and deliberative forum will share the meaning of 'participatory democracy' policy, and discuss tasks for promoting basic income at the academic and legislative levels.
In Part 1, Kim Chun-seok, director of the Public Deliberation Center at Korea Research Institute, who conducted the public deliberation survey, will present the results of the public deliberation initiative under the theme of 'Gyeonggi Province's First Successful Step in Deliberative Democracy.' This will be followed by a citizen participant from the deliberative forum and Park Su-seon, director of the 'Conflict Resolution & Peace Center' who designed the deliberative forum, sharing their experiences of participation.
In Part 2 'Empathy Concert,' hosted by attorney Park Ji-hoon, Lee Hang-jin, mayor of Yeoju, Park Gwan-yeol, provincial assembly member (Gwangju District 2), Seo Jung-hee, professor at Gunsan University, and Jo Gye-won, policy chief secretary will present various opinions on basic income policy implementation and tasks at the academic and legislative levels.

Gyeonggi Province previously conducted a first public opinion poll in July over one month targeting 2,549 residents with the agenda of 'The Future of Welfare Policy and Basic Income.' Subsequently, a 'deliberative forum' was held from August 31 to September 1 targeting 165 citizen participants selected based on gender, age, and region, and second and third public opinion surveys were conducted to analyze changes in public opinion.
