[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City signed a 'School Site Public Parking Lot Usage Agreement' with LH on the 6th at the City Hall reception room to resolve parking shortage in the Foil 2 District. Mayor Kim Sang-don, Jang Chung-mo, head of LH's Gyeonggi Region Division, and related officials attended the agreement ceremony.
During the agreement ceremony, Uiwang City and LH agreed to lease school site land owned by LH within the Uiwang Foil 2 District to the city free of charge and utilize it as a temporary public parking lot through September 30 next year.
Through this agreement, the city will be able to create a temporary public parking lot with approximately 120 spaces on a site area of 5,500㎡ (1,663 pyeong), and LH will receive a property tax exemption for the target land.
The Foil-dong area, where the temporary public parking lot will be created, has been a location with high parking demand. The creation of this parking lot will provide residents and workers in nearby business facilities with more pleasant parking spaces.
The temporary public parking lot is scheduled to complete construction in December and begin operations in January next year. Going forward, both parties agreed to extend its use for one-year periods upon mutual agreement.
Mayor Kim Sang-don of Uiwang City said, "I hope this agreement will help resolve the parking shortage in the Foil-dong area," and added, "While there are various challenges such as securing sites and project budgets for creating new parking lots, we will make active efforts to provide parking spaces through diverse means including inter-agency cooperation to address citizens' inconveniences."
