Suwon Women's University Donates 10.5 Million Won to Suwon City for Community Support
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon Women's University (Acting President Park Jae-heung) donated 10.5 million won to Suwon City on the 11th, requesting that the funds be used to help underprivileged neighbors.
The donation ceremony was held on the 11th at the office of Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young, attended by Mayor Yeom Tae-young, Acting President Park Jae-heung of Suwon Women's University, and other officials from the city and the university.
Suwon Women's University raised the donation funds from proceeds of a 'Sympathy Flea Market (Bazaar)' held in September during the university's festival to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The funds were generated by selling donated items from faculty members, alumni, students, and local residents at the flea market.
The city plans to distribute the donation to two social welfare facilities: a single mothers' facility (Goun-tteul) and a child care facility (Suwon Nazareth House).
Mayor Yeom Tae-young said, "I sincerely thank Suwon Women's University for its consistent community service activities and practice of neighborly love," and urged, "Please continue to take the lead in promoting a culture of sharing and creating a better community."
