Osan Holds Joint Memorial Service Commemorating National Martyrs Day

[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Osan City held a joint memorial service on the 17th at the Hyungchung Tower in Sucheong-dong to commemorate the 80th National Martyrs Day.

The event, hosted by the Osan Branch of the Korean War Casualties and Bereaved Families Association (Branch Director Bae Sung-ae), was attended by approximately 300 people, including Osan Mayor Gwak Sang-wook, Osan City Council Chairman Jang In-soo, heads of eight veterans' organizations in Osan City, families of national merit recipients, and leaders of governmental and civic organizations.

Osan Mayor Gwak Sang-wook said in his memorial address: "I respectfully pay tribute once again to the noble sacrifice of the national martyrs who gave their lives for our country's liberation. We will soon open the Osan Jungmil Peace Park and Peace Museum and develop the Osan Jungmil area into a tourist attraction visited by citizens of the world who cherish freedom."
