Upper Level of Suin Line Suwon Section to Transform into Eco-Friendly Space for Citizens
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] The upper level of the Suin Line Suwon section will be transformed into a resident-friendly space including walking paths.
Suwon City and Korea Railroad Facility Corporation signed a ‘Consignment Agreement for Resident Amenity Facilities Installation Project on the Upper Level of the Suin Line Suwon Underground Section’ on the 10th at the Honam Regional Headquarters situation room of Korea Railroad Facility Corporation in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
According to the agreement, the city will bear the project expenses for installing amenity facilities in the upper space of the Suin Line Suwon section, while Korea Railroad Facility Corporation will implement the project.
The city plans to create approximately 3 kilometers of linear eco-friendly space on the upper level of the Suin Line Suwon section, which is currently under underground construction, including walking paths, bicycle roads, and fine dust blocking forests, and make them available to residents.
Additionally, the disconnected Gosaeok Underground Road and the Hwangguji Stream crossing section within the 3-kilometer section will be connected with pedestrian elevated facilities (overpasses and bridges) to create a green corridor passing through the city from Pyeongdong through Gosaeok and Omokcheon-dong to Bongdam (Hwaseong City). The green corridor will also connect to the Seryou Triangle Bicycle Road, which was completed last year.
Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young and Korea Railroad Facility Corporation President Kim Sang-gyun attended the agreement ceremony.
Mayor Yeom Tae-young stated, “We will develop the upper level of the Suin Line into a premium ecological space that citizens can visit anytime,” and added, “I hope that today's agreement will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between our city and Korea Railroad Facility Corporation that began in 2013.”
Suwon City and Korea Railroad Facility Corporation signed a ‘Consignment Agreement for the Underground Development Project of the Suin Line Section 2 in Suwon City’ in March 2013, and are currently constructing the Suin Line Suwon section underground.
