Ministry of the Interior and Safety Certifies "Uiwang City is a Safe City"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City announced on the 16th that it received Grade 1 ratings across 3 out of 6 categories in the "2019 Regional Safety Index for Local Governments Nationwide" conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Regional Safety Index is an indicator that annually aggregates major safety-related statistics to objectively represent the safety level and safety awareness of each region. The index measures 6 categories (traffic accidents, fires, crime, daily safety, suicide, and infectious diseases) by region and classifies them into Grades 1 through 5. The closer to Grade 1, the relatively safer the area is considered.

In this assessment, the city obtained Grade 1 ratings in 3 out of 6 categories (traffic accidents, crime, and suicide). The remaining categories received Grade 2 ratings. Last year, the city received Grade 1 ratings in 6 out of 7 categories.

Mayor Kim Sang-don of Uiwang City stated, "The city has once again demonstrated the fact that it is a safe city where people want to live across the nation," adding, "Going forward, we will do our utmost to create a safe city where citizens can live with peace of mind."
