Korea Silver Police Volunteer Association Central Council Hosts 'Silver Safety Festival' for 'Safe Korea'

The Korea Silver Police Volunteer Association (Chairman Im Su-bok) held the '2026 Korea Silver Safety Festival' on the 17th at Arbia Wedding Hall in Guri City.

The event was held as part of the Ministry of Interior and Safety's non-profit civic organization public interest activity support project to promote life-respect culture and the importance of dementia prevention for healthy aging among the silver generation, going beyond everyday safety.

On the day, Chairman Im Su-bok said, "External safety such as traffic safety, as well as the life-respect spirit for seniors to cherish themselves and dementia prevention activities for a healthy life are urgent tasks of our era," and added, "I hope this 2026 Korea Silver Safety Festival will not remain a one-time event but become the starting point for establishing a social safety net that combines safety and health."

The welcoming address by Jang Su-yong, Guri City Chapter Director, congratulatory remarks from Shin Dong-hwa, Mayor of Guri City, and Yang Gyeong-ae, Speaker of Guri City Council, along with numerous guests and members from various chapters, graced the occasion.

In Part 1 of the event, which opened with the opening declaration by a director of the Korea Silver Police Volunteer Association Central Council, there was a lecture by Yun Young-mi, head instructor of the Citizens Union for Safety Life Practice, on the theme of 'traffic safety for safe commutes and school commutes for children.'

In Part 2, there were presentations of 'Silver UCC' from 4 teams (Suwon City Chapter, Namyangju City Chapter, Ansan Sangrok Chapter, and Guri City Chapter) that passed the preliminaries through each city and county chapter selection, containing regional traffic safety volunteer activities, and safety essay presentations from 4 teams (Yang Young-o, Sujuk 2nd District Captain of Guri City Chapter, Park Sung-sook, Squad Leader of Donggu District of Guri City Chapter, Yang Ok-mong of Inchang District of Guri City Chapter, and Kim Deok-im of Incheon City Chapter).

Not just traffic safety activities, but precious practical cases of safety in daily life were presented, evoking deep empathy from attendees. Additionally, Jung Hye-seon, a social worker at the Guri City Chapter, received a commendation in recognition of her contributions to the event.

The Korea Silver Police Volunteer Association, as a non-profit civic organization, supports talent donations and government activities for public interest purposes within the silver community framework, and is leading the way in building a safe and sound Korea as a guardian of local communities.
