Gwonseon-gu Launches 'Outreach Self-Reliance Counseling' Program
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Gwonseon-gu will begin implementing the '2020 Outreach Self-Reliance Counseling Operating Plan' from next month to support the self-reliance of low-income and vulnerable workers.
The 'Outreach Self-Reliance Counseling' program operates job placement and financial counseling as well as customized employment support programs to foster self-reliance capabilities, provide skills training support, and create work opportunities. It aims to establish an economic self-reliance foundation and promote financial stability for low-income households.
Starting in March, self-reliance counseling specialists from the Suwon Community Self-Reliance Center will conduct rounds at 12 administrative welfare centers in the district (three times per month). The plan is to identify existing near-poor households and vulnerable low-income workers, then provide customized employment counseling and job opportunities.
Gwonseon-gu District Chief Gil Young-bae stated, "We conducted 27 outreach self-reliance counseling sessions by the end of December last year and through 92 promotional activities achieved a result of job placements for 5 individuals at 2 business divisions including the Suwon Community Self-Reliance Center's pottery business division." He added, "Through outreach self-reliance counseling, we will ensure that employment becomes the greatest form of welfare."
