Uiwang City Distributes Free Masks and Shopping Baskets for Pregnant Women

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Su-ji] Following recent confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection among pregnant women, Uiwang City will distribute masks and shopping baskets free of charge to pregnant women, classified as a high-risk group for COVID-19.

The distribution targets pregnant women residing in Uiwang City, with masks (2 pieces per person, one-time distribution) and shopping baskets to be provided from March 13 to 20 at each district's community center where residents are registered.

To receive the items, the pregnant woman or her proxy should visit the community center during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) with documentation confirming pregnancy (maternity handbook or pregnancy confirmation letter) and identification (both the pregnant woman's and proxy's identification when receiving via proxy).

Mayor Kim Sang-don of Uiwang City stated, "We have implemented emergency distribution through the city for pregnant women who find it difficult to visit government-designated mask sales pharmacies and wait in long lines." He added, "As pregnant women have relatively weaker immunity and require special caution against infectious diseases, we urge residents to refrain from going out and to comply with infection prevention guidelines such as wearing masks and washing hands when going out."
