Looking for Muslim-Friendly Restaurants and Vegan Restaurants in Suwon

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City is recruiting Muslim-friendly restaurants and vegetarian restaurants until the 31st of this month.

The city announced that it launched the initiative to provide food information that takes culture and religion into consideration to visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as to offer high-quality hygiene services. The initiative is also intended to prepare for the Asia-Pacific Environment Ministers Forum scheduled to be held in Suwon on September 8. The forum is expected to be attended by approximately 500 representatives from 41 Asia-Pacific countries, international organizations, and civic organizations.

For Muslim-friendly restaurants, eligible candidates include general restaurants within the city that serve halal menus, restaurants that do not serve pork, and restaurants within hotels that offer halal menus. For vegetarian restaurants, eligible candidates include food service establishments that operate as 'vegan (vegetarian) restaurants' or serve 'vegan menu items.'

Restaurants wishing to apply can download the application form from the city's homepage (www.suwon.go.kr) under City News - 'Recruitment of Muslim-Friendly Restaurants' and 'Recruitment of Vegan (Vegetarian) Restaurants,' complete it, and submit it in person or by fax to the Sanitation Policy Division, Sanitation Management Team (031-228-2396).

The city plans to accept applications without any numerical limit. For Muslim-friendly restaurants, the Korea Tourism Organization will designate establishments by grade. Vegan restaurants will be reviewed directly by the city.

Restaurants selected as Muslim-friendly restaurants will receive support for producing and distributing promotional materials. For vegetarian restaurants, the city will provide vegan restaurant marks and promote the restaurants through various media outlets, including the city's homepage.
