Disaster Basic Income Donation: 'Overcome Suwon Together with Fruit of Love' Sharing Campaign Launched
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City and the Gyeonggi Community Chest have launched the ‘Overcome Suwon Together with Fruit of Love’ sharing campaign to donate the ‘disaster basic income.’
The Gyeonggi Community Chest and Suwon City held the ‘Suwon City Disaster Basic Income Good Donation’ event in the lobby of Suwon City Hall on the 9th, marking the start of the sharing campaign.
Participating in the donation at the event were the Suwon City Hall Public Officials' Union, the Suwon City Labor-Management-Citizen-Government Council, the Suwon City Pyeongsilsa (People Practicing Lifelong Learning) Association, and social welfare organizations.
The Gyeonggi Community Chest and Suwon City plan to develop the sharing campaign into a ‘citizen social movement’ in which citizens, organizations, and businesses participate voluntarily. Suwon City also plans to promote a donation relay in which all employees participate voluntarily. The donations raised will be promptly distributed to citizens affected by the COVID-19 situation.
Mayor Yeom Tae-young proposed a ‘good donation movement’ in which households not facing livelihood difficulties donate their disaster basic income support funds to those struggling due to COVID-19, during a briefing on the 2nd announcing the ‘Suwon City Disaster Basic Income’ support.
Citizens wishing to donate can deposit into the special fundraising account or place donations in the donation boxes set up at each Dong Administrative Welfare Center. The Dong Administrative Welfare Centers operate donation counseling desks.
Donors can select from a designated donation form those they wish to help, such as small business owners, unemployed youth, low-income and blind-spot citizens facing hardship due to the COVID-19 situation. Deposits can be made to Nonghyup 317-0003-8354-31 (account holder: Gyeonggi Community Chest).
Citizens who wish to receive a donation receipt can fill out the application form and send it by email (suw@chest.or.kr) or fax (0303-3261-2113), or submit it to the nearest Dong Administrative Welfare Center.
Meanwhile, the Suwon City Disaster Basic Income, which provides 100,000 won per person to all citizens, can be applied for on the Suwon City website (https://www.suwon.go.kr) from 10 a.m. on the 9th. All citizens with resident registration in Suwon City as of midnight on April 2 are eligible for support.
Applications can be made on the Suwon City website from 10 a.m. on the 9th until the 30th, and from April 20 to May 29, applications can be made by visiting the Dong Administrative Welfare Center at one's registered address. For minors (born after April 3, 2001), the head of household who is a direct ascendant can apply on their behalf.
To prevent congestion, a ‘5-day application system’ will be implemented. It works the same way as the ‘5-day mask purchase system.’ Those whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 can apply on Monday, 2 or 7 on Tuesday, 3 or 8 on Wednesday, 4 or 9 on Thursday, and 5 or 0 on Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, all citizens can apply regardless of birth year.
Citizens who apply within April will, after eligibility verification, receive the funds in cash deposited into an account in their own name. The support funds will be paid within one day at the earliest and within seven days at the latest. Citizens who visit a Dong Administrative Welfare Center to apply after May 1 will receive payment in Onnuri gift certificates, local currency, prepaid cards, and the like.
From April 20 to May 17, applications can be made at Dong Administrative Welfare Centers on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends (holidays) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. From May 18 to 29, applications can be made on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. When applying in person, an application form (power of attorney) must be filled out and submitted along with an ID.
