[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City will implement zone-by-zone drive-through sales of regional agricultural and livestock products starting from the 14th to promote consumption of local agricultural products.

This initiative comes as the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has led to market contraction and delays in the opening and reopening of daycare centers, kindergartens, and schools, resulting in continued damage to local agricultural and livestock farmers due to reduced sales channels.

The drive-through sales will involve participation from the Regional Agricultural Cooperative, Nokdon Young-nong, and Osaegsoseban through direct transactions, which is expected to yield a win-win effect by securing sales outlets for farmers while providing citizens with affordable agricultural and livestock products.

The sales will begin on the 14th at Pyeongtaek's Sosabel Sports Town, continue on the 17th at Songtan Ichung Sports Park, and proceed on the 18th at the Anjung Branch Office. All three locations will start at 10 a.m. and continue until inventory is exhausted.

Sales items include 9 types of products such as rice, kimchi (3 varieties), vegetables (cucumbers and zucchini), and pork. Citizens can purchase fresh agricultural products at prices 10-30% cheaper than market rates.

Mayor Jung Jang-seon stated, "Local farmers are facing difficult circumstances as school meal supply contracts and other transactions have become difficult due to COVID-19," and urged citizens to "make good use of the drive-through sales to support local farmers and purchase quality agricultural and livestock products at affordable prices."
