'Suwon Disaster Basic Income' Donation Campaign Sees Hot Participation from Suwon Citizens
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] More Suwon citizens are joining the sharing campaign 'Overcoming Suwon Together with Love of Fruit' to donate 'Suwon Disaster Basic Income.'
Suwon City and the Gyeonggi Council on Social Welfare jointly launched a sharing campaign to donate 'Disaster Basic Income' from the 9th. As of the 24th, the total donations amount to 228 million won (1,101 cases). The donated funds will be quickly distributed to citizens affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Starting with the Suwon City Hall Public Employees' Union, Suwon Tripartite Labor-Government Consultation Council, Suwon Pyeongsil Association (Association of People Practicing Lifelong Learning), and social welfare organizations participating in donations on the first day of the campaign, residents' groups, associations, citizens, and public officials also took part.
The 44 leaders of residents' autonomous committees from 44 wards in Suwon City participated in the donation campaign on the 13th, and the social welfare community including Suwon Community Security Council, Suwon Social Welfare Council, and Suwon Social Workers Association also donated.
Donations from organizations and institutions continue, including 'Yulcheon-dong Guardian Volunteer Corps,' 'Jeongja 3-dong Organization Leaders Council,' 'Jowon 2-dong Neighborhood Chief Council,' 'Seryou 2-dong Organization Leaders Council,' and 'Suwon Municipal Wuman Daycare Center.'
Additionally, Suwon Myeongsung Church delivered 10 million won to Suwon Mayor Yom Tae-young on the 23rd, saying "Please use this to overcome the COVID-19 crisis." The Suwon Architects Association handed over 3 million won in 'COVID-19 Crisis Relief Funds' to Vice Mayor Cho Moo-young on the 24th.
Each department of Suwon City and cooperating organizations are continuously participating in the donation campaign. Employees from various departments including the Road and Traffic Division and Environmental Department contributed to the disaster basic income donation.
Center Director Park Jae-gyu of 'Suwon Women's Cultural Space Hoo' and staff members made donations to the city on the 20th, saying "Please use this to support small business owners affected by COVID-19." Chairman An Sang-wook of the Suwon Sustainable City Foundation and executives and employees voluntarily collected disaster basic income donations and delivered them to the Seodun-dong Administrative Welfare Center on the 24th.
Chairman An Sang-wook said, "Executives and employees willingly participated in the caring donation relay with the intention of building a society where we live together with those facing greater difficulties. We hope this will help neighbors struggling with COVID-19 overcome their hardships."
Citizens wishing to donate can deposit funds into the special fundraising account (NH Bank 317-0003-8354-31, Account Holder: Gyeonggi Council on Social Welfare) or place donations in collection boxes installed at each ward administrative welfare center. Administrative welfare centers operate donation counseling windows.
Citizens can choose beneficiaries on the donation designation form, such as small business owners, unemployed youth, low-income families and blind spot residents struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Citizens who wish to receive donation receipts can submit completed application forms via email (suw@chest.or.kr), fax (0303-3261-2113), or submit them to the nearest ward administrative welfare center.
A city official said, "We sincerely thank citizens participating in the disaster basic income sharing campaign. After the COVID-19 crisis, citizens whose income has not decreased are urged to participate in the sharing campaign to donate disaster basic income to citizens facing difficulties due to COVID-19 and help more struggling neighbors."
