Uiwang City Holds Committee Meeting for Communal Childcare Council

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City held the 'Uiwang City Communal Childcare Council Member Appointment Ceremony' and committee meeting on the 20th at the City Hall conference room, with the attendance of 14 members including Mayor Kim Sang-don, Vice Mayor Cha Jung-suk, and City Council Member Kim Hak-ki.

During the meeting, the Communal Childcare Council was organized around nine institutions including Uiwang City, Uiwang City Council, Gunpo-Uiwang Office of Education, elementary school principals, elementary school parent representatives, Community Children's Center Association, Youth After-School Academy, Cheonggyae Free Waldorf School, and Poil Forest Communal Childcare Center, and appointment certificates were presented to the members.

In the committee meeting following the appointment ceremony, the attending members exchanged various opinions on networking between childcare institutions and the discovery and distribution of specialized Uiwang-style childcare programs.

Meanwhile, the elementary after-school childcare project, a campaign pledge for the seventh popular election term, is being promoted to establish a community-centered childcare system and to resolve gaps in elementary childcare. Since the city began operations of the first Communal Childcare Center, which was renovated and opened in December last year at the residential communal facility of Poil Forest Village Complex 2, the city plans to launch full-scale childcare services starting this year.

Mayor Kim Sang-don stated, "Following the Poil Forest Communal Childcare Center last year, we will additionally establish Communal Childcare Centers at the Bugok-dong Community Service Center and Cheonggyae Village Complex 3 this year," and added, "Since the city is just beginning its childcare services, I ask for much support from the members present today in establishing a specialized Uiwang-style childcare service unique to Uiwang City."
