Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon Visits Wanju County, Korea's Leading Local Food Region

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon visited Wanju County in North Jeolla Province on the 25th, recognized as the nation's leading hub for local food initiatives.

The inspection was conducted to study Wanju County's successful local food model and explore directions for establishing a Pyeongtaek-style local food system and operating a local food center.

Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, leading the inspection group, visited Wanju's local food direct sales store, agricultural products processing center, and public school meal center in sequence, examining the status of local food production infrastructure development and local economic circulation systems.

Wanju County Governor Park Sung-il stated, "I appreciate Mayor Jeong and the inspection group members for visiting us despite the distance. We will generously share our local food development expertise."

Mayor Jeong Jang-seon said, "Taking Wanju County's success as the nation's local food leader as a mirror, I will successfully advance Pyeongtaek's local food revitalization policies." He added, "I extend my gratitude to County Governor Park Sung-il and other related officials for providing this benchmarking opportunity."

Meanwhile, the city conducted a relay campaign to deliver the "Flower Bucket Challenge," an initiative to support flower farmers experiencing difficulties due to COVID-19 spread, to Wanju County.
