Suwon Sustainable City Foundation Conducts Social Contribution Activity at Suwon Stream with Civic Organizations
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] The Suwon Sustainable City Foundation conducted a joint social contribution activity at Suwon Stream with civic society organizations on the 28th in commemoration of World Environment Day (June 5 annually).
Some 60 officials from the Suwon Sustainable City Foundation, Housing Welfare Alliance, and Suwon Environmental Network, among others, engaged in throwing EM soil balls and cleanup activities along the Suwon Stream (between Gyeonggi Bridge and Gucheon Bridge) for two hours starting at 10 a.m. They also documented hazardous areas including structures, facilities, and access routes within the stream in photographs.
The foundation stated that EM soil balls contain approximately 80 types of microorganisms including yeast, lactic acid bacteria, koji mold, photosynthetic bacteria, and actinomycetes, and are effective in water purification, odor removal, and preventing food oxidation. The foundation plans to provide records of hazardous materials within the stream to relevant city departments for future improvements.
