Suwon Road Traffic Management Office to Raise Vehicle License Plate Issuance Fees by 7-8% Next Month
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon Road Traffic Management Office, a subsidiary of Suwon City, announced on the 7th that it will raise vehicle license plate issuance fees beginning next month.
The city froze vehicle license plate issuance fees for the past six years. The city cited the need for a fee increase due to continued operational deficits at the office and anticipated increases in material costs due to the implementation of eight-digit film-type license plates.
Based on mid-sized vehicles as the standard, the fees will be raised by an average of 7-8%, with existing fees of 12,000 won increasing to 13,000 won, large vehicles from 14,000 won to 15,000 won, and electric vehicles from 26,000 won to 30,000 won.
Meanwhile, the eight-digit film-type vehicle registration license plates to be introduced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport from July now feature the Taegeuk symbol, KOR (country abbreviation), and anti-counterfeiting holograms on the top and bottom. Additionally, reflective film-type plates with high light reflectivity are applied using new materials.
