Pyeongtaek City Holds Voluntary Memorial Service on Memorial Day with Social Distancing
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] On the occasion of the 65th Memorial Day, Pyeongtaek City operated a voluntary memorial service at the Pyeongtaek Lake Memorial Tower on the 6th to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and the spirits of fallen soldiers.
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., veterans' families and citizens visited the memorial tower and voluntarily paid their respects while practicing social distancing in daily life, reflecting on the noble sacrifices and dedication of the fallen.
Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-seon also visited the memorial tower at 10 a.m. to pay his respects. Mayor Jung said, "I regret that various commemorative events during the month of patriots and veterans have been reduced or canceled due to COVID-19. We will do our best to honor those recognized for their national contributions and their bereaved families."
