Ganghwa County Conducts Special Inspection to Establish Public Service Discipline
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Ganghwa County announced on the 10th that it will conduct a special inspection targeting its main office and affiliated institutions to establish public service discipline.
The county has organized a special inspection team headed by the head of the Audit Division and will conduct both overt and covert inspections through the end of this month.
This special inspection aims to establish public service discipline amid economic and social crisis caused by COVID-19, and will focus on inspecting the management status of critical facilities and emergency response posture amid concerns over accidents and disasters during the summer monsoon and vacation season.
The inspection will intensively investigate unauthorized absence from duty, leaving posts for personal reasons, and negligence in security management of important materials; passive work handling such as delays in civil complaints due to vacations and personnel matters; misconduct undermining public officials' integrity such as drunk disturbances, sexual misconduct, and abusive behavior; and violations of integrity obligations and anti-solicitation laws such as accepting money, treats, and gifts during vacation season.
Additionally, the county will inspect preventive systems in preparation for disasters such as heavy rain to maintain vigilance for rapid response to emergencies and will preemptively block conduct causing inconvenience to residents. For public officials identified in the inspection, the county plans to apply a zero-tolerance principle and take stern disciplinary action regardless of position or circumstances.
Ganghwa County Governor Yu Cheon-ho stated, "In this time of national crisis due to COVID-19, establishing discipline among public officials is important," adding, "We will do our best to address inconveniences to residents through substantive public service inspection and make Ganghwa County a trustworthy organization."
