[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City signed a business agreement with Hana Financial Group on the 16th at the External Cooperation Division of City Hall following the selection of a public call for proposals to support public childcare centers.
The signing ceremony was attended by Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-seon, KEB Hana Bank Gyeonggi Business Division Head Sung Young-soo, and KEB Hana Bank Pyeongtaek Branch Manager Lee Kyung-ha.
This public call for proposals is an initiative in which Hana Financial Group partners with local governments to build public childcare centers to address the low birth rate problem and increase women's economic participation rate. According to the agreement, the city will receive 1.127 billion won in project funding from Hana Financial Group.
The city plans to invest 2.5 billion won, including support from Hana Financial Group, to relocate and newly construct the aged municipal Wonpyeong Childcare Center at 260 Pyeongnam-ro with a total floor area of 666 square meters in a 4-story structure. The opening is scheduled for 2022.
Mayor Jung Jang-seon said, "Through the expansion of public childcare centers, we plan to support the social participation of women who have left the workforce and create a city conducive to raising children. Going forward, we will do our best to reduce municipal expenditures through public-private cooperation and respond in a customized manner to citizens' childcare needs."
