Hwaseong City to Distribute 100,000 Won Holiday Consolation Allowance to Basic Livelihood Guarantee Households Ahead of Chuseok

Hwaseong City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on the 18th that it will distribute a 100,000 won holiday consolation allowance per household to basic livelihood guarantee recipients ahead of the Chuseok holiday to ease their economic burden and support their stable living.

The support targets households that have registered residences in Hwaseong City as of the day before the holiday break and receive living expenses or medical benefits in the month that includes the holiday. The holiday consolation allowance will be distributed to the household head's account on the 23rd without requiring a separate application process.

However, recipients who receive holiday consolation allowance through other laws or systems, such as facility recipients, will be excluded from the distribution.

Hwaseong City has been implementing the holiday consolation allowance program since 2020 as part of its customized welfare policies to ease the economic burden on low-income vulnerable groups. During this year's Lunar New Year holiday, the city distributed a total of 951.7 million won to 9,517 households.

The city expects this support to help alleviate holiday-related expenses for low-income households facing difficulties due to economic slowdown and rising prices, and to help them maintain stable living conditions.

Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong City stated, "I hope this consolation allowance becomes a small source of warm comfort to vulnerable neighbors who feel burdened by holiday preparations due to high prices and economic slowdown," and added, "I will further strengthen the comprehensive welfare safety net so that all citizens, including those who are disadvantaged, can enjoy a warm Chuseok by providing timely and tailored welfare support that residents can feel."
