First Deputy Mayor Cho Chung-sik Inspects Modernization Project at Suwon Agricultural & Fishery Products Wholesale Market
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] First Deputy Mayor of Suwon City Cho Chung-sik visited the site of the agricultural and fishery products wholesale market facility modernization project on the 17th to inspect the construction progress and preparation for tenant relocation.
The agricultural and fishery products wholesale market facility modernization project is being promoted through a phased circular redevelopment method that combines market operations with reconstruction work.
In Phase 1, a temporary vegetable section was established on vacant land near Gwonseon High School, which has been operating since July 2018, and Phase 2 involves demolishing the old vegetable building and constructing a new fruit and seafood building.
After Phase 3, where a new vegetable building will be constructed in the current fruit and seafood building location, is completed, the modernization project will be finalized.
The city plans to complete Phase 2 construction by August, with the relocation of 5 wholesale companies and 114 intermediate dealers scheduled to begin on the 21st, so it is actively preparing site management and opening preparations to minimize congestion and inconvenience. The fruit and seafood building being newly constructed at the site of the old vegetable building of the Suwon agricultural and fishery products wholesale market will begin tenant occupancy on August 21st.
In particular, the city plans to implement countermeasures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and hold an opening event accordingly.
Deputy Mayor Cho Chung-sik stated, "We must thoroughly prepare for the opening to ensure there are no problems with tenant relocation and the start of Phase 3 construction," and "We will do our best to minimize inconvenience for visitors."
