Mayor Kim Sang-don Visits Cheonggyejeong Water Purification Plant: "Thorough Water Quality Inspections and Monitoring Essential"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Amid growing concerns among residents of the Seoul metropolitan area following the recent discovery of insect larvae in tap water in the Incheon region, Mayor Kim Sang-don of Uiwang City has launched an inspection of tap water sanitary conditions.

Mayor Kim inspected the Cheonggyejeong Water Purification Plant operated by the Water and Sewerage Business Division, the Cheonggyecheon restoration project site, the Cheonggyesan Nuri-gil trail construction project site, the Naeson Love Happiness Village community space, and a building designated for opening a nursery school within the Gocheon Happy Housing complex on the 22nd. He also reviewed improvement measures for civil complaints with relevant officials.

In particular, at the Cheonggyejeong Water Purification Plant, priority inspections were conducted on key facilities including the sedimentation basin and filtration zone.

According to officials at the water purification plant, "We conduct regular water quality testing once a week through a specialized water quality inspection agency. Additionally, we monitor water quality 24 hours a day, 365 days a year using water quality monitoring equipment, and the Cheonggyejeong Water Purification Plant strictly adheres to water quality standards to supply clean tap water to residents."

Mayor Kim urged, "Please conduct thorough inspections and monitoring to ensure that citizens do not develop distrust and anxiety regarding their tap water." He also instructed, "When civil complaints related to tap water arise, conduct an immediate on-site investigation to verify the facts."

The 21st Field Administration Day is scheduled to take place on the 12th of next month, visiting major project sites and civil complaint locations.
