Osan City Conducts Emergency Inspection of Water Reservoirs: "Tap Water Quality Normal"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City conducted an emergency inspection of all water reservoirs in the city by the 23rd in response to larvae that recently appeared in tap water across the Seoul metropolitan area.

The facilities subject to emergency inspection include five locations: Eungye Water Reservoir, Gwol-dong Water Reservoir, Sammi Water Reservoir, Galgot Water Reservoir, and Gajang Water Reservoir.

City officials conducted comprehensive inspections at all five water reservoirs within the city, including water quality sampling surveys and internal inspections of the reservoirs. No larvae were found in the tap water, and water quality was found to be appropriate.

The city plans to replace insect screens at all water reservoir facilities to prevent larvae from entering from outside and will conduct underwater camera inspections for more thorough management of the reservoirs.

A city official stated, "The city receives all tap water from the Paldang Dam Seongnam and Suji water purification plant managed by K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation). To date, there have been no cases of larvae being found," and added, "We will continue to cooperate closely with K-water to ensure larvae do not occur through thorough tap water management."

Vice Mayor Kim Neung-sik visited the water reservoir site on the 23rd and said, "Through hygiene inspections of water reservoirs and thorough facility management, we will make every effort to ensure larvae do not enter the water supply."

Meanwhile, the city has been operating a joint response team since the 22nd in preparation for tap water larvae incidents. It sent cooperative notices to 361 buildings with large water storage tanks in the area and 705 residences with installed storage tanks, requesting hygienic management of the storage tanks.
