Traffic Issues at Suwon Delta Complex to Be Resolved
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Ahead of the reopening of the Suin Line in September, measures including the establishment of new bus routes are underway to improve traffic problems at Suwon Delta Complex.
First, Suwon City plans to establish a new neighborhood bus route 27-8 connecting Gosaek Station and Suwon Delta Complex, with operations set to begin on September 14.
The 27-8 neighborhood bus departing from Gosaek Station travels via Daehan Apartments, in front of the Delta Complex Overpass, Deulbaram Park, Gosaek Museum, Precisis Co., Ltd., Raon Tech Co., Ltd., Suwon Venture Valley II, HNC System Co., Ltd., Paco Engineering Co., Ltd., S.A.H. Tech Co., Ltd., Hongjin Ki-yeon Co., Ltd., and Mi-gyeong Tech Co., Ltd., before returning to Gosaek Station. Two buses will be deployed, operating 39 times daily at 15-minute intervals.
Previously, Suwon Delta Complex had only east-west bus routes, making public transportation inconvenient. The city expects that the establishment of this circular route will significantly improve commuting convenience for workers at companies based in Suwon Delta Complex.
Parking convenience will also improve to eliminate illegal parking. Suwon City will utilize some three-lane sections as on-street parking lots, securing 218 spaces and operating 1,066 on-street parking spaces. Additionally, 397 temporary off-street parking spaces will be secured in unused areas of three blocks, allowing 900 vehicles to park in off-street parking facilities.
Public parking spaces will implement employee-priority parking. Suwon Urban Corporation will recruit and select users among employees of companies based in Suwon Delta Complex through the 26th, with a monthly usage fee of 30,000 won.
Until now, Suwon Delta Complex has suffered from weak public transportation and insufficient parking spaces, resulting in chronic parking shortages. Illegal parking has occurred rampant not only along roadsides but also on center lines in some sections, causing significant disruptions to vehicle traffic and hindering business activities of resident companies, leading to frequent complaints.
Accordingly, Suwon City found solutions to traffic problems by establishing a circular neighborhood bus service and securing additional parking spaces in line with the opening of Gosaek Station in September.
In particular, through this linked project, with public transportation and public parking secured, the city plans to strengthen guidance and enforcement against illegally parked vehicles outside designated on-street parking lots, ensuring smooth traffic flow not only for childcare facility shuttle vehicles but also for large vehicles essential for business activities such as entry and exit.
Inquiries regarding parking lot usage at Suwon Delta Complex can be made to Suwon Urban Corporation (031-238-0560), public transportation including bus operations to the Public Transportation Division (031-228-3292), enforcement of illegal parking and stopping to the Gwonseon-gu Economic and Transportation Division (031-228-6576), and other matters to the Business Support Division (031-228-2338).
A city official said, "Through continuous monitoring of this traffic improvement plan, we will analyze problems and find more efficient solutions to enhance worker convenience."
Meanwhile, Suwon Delta Complex is the official name of the Suwon General Industrial Complex, whose designation and management authority were unified under Suwon City last year. The complex spans 1,257,510 square meters across three blocks with 739 high-tech companies based there and approximately 15,500 workers employed.
