Uiwang City Launches GTX-C Uiwang Station Task Force, Holds First Meeting

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City established a 'GTX-C Uiwang Station Task Force' to promote the station stop on the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit GTX-C route and held its first meeting at the City Hall Small Conference Room on the 20th.

The task force was established to devise various measures to ensure that Uiwang Station is reflected in future GTX project implementation by relevant parties such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, based on the feasibility and economic viability of Uiwang Station presented at the final report meeting of the 'GTX-C Uiwang Station Pre-Feasibility Study' held on the 11th. It functions as a temporary organization.

The task force consists of a working group of 10 members, including Mayor Kim Sang-don as chair and heads of relevant departments, and a consulting team of 7 experts in the field of metropolitan rapid transit.

At the first meeting, department heads from various sectors related to the GTX station stop—including transportation, urban planning, urban development, roads, public relations, and autonomous administration—shared the contents of the final service results, and various agenda items were discussed regarding the GTX Uiwang Station stop in connection with the '2035 Uiwang City Urban Master Plan' and various development projects.

Mayor Kim Sang-don stated, "We have submitted the final results of the service to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Going forward, the Uiwang Station area will experience a groundbreaking improvement in metropolitan transit conditions through the GTX-C route station stop and develop into a cluster of future transportation advanced industries where diverse sectors such as the nearby railway research complex, advanced industrial complex, and Hyundai Motor Research Institute converge."

He continued, "To this end, the city will ensure the task force plays a substantive role in facilitating continuous and effective consultations not only with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport but also with private operators of the GTX-C construction project. As the commanding officer of the task force, I will do my best until the station is confirmed."
