Osan City Holds Emergency Response Meeting on Typhoon 'Babbi' and Activates Emergency Duty System

[Suwon Ilbo=Seo Dong-young Reporter] As Typhoon 'Babbi' moves northward toward the Korean Peninsula, Osan City held an emergency response meeting at City Hall on the 25th and implemented a Level 2 emergency duty system to minimize typhoon damage.

The meeting was attended by Vice Mayor Kim Neung-sik and heads of nine disaster-related departments, where they reported departmental preparedness plans and discussed countermeasures against typhoon damage.

Vice Mayor Kim directed advance inspections and thorough countermeasures for facilities at risk of damage from strong winds, including tower cranes at construction sites and outdoor advertisements. He urged citizens to follow typhoon preparedness guidelines and refrain from going outside when the typhoon makes landfall.

Meanwhile, the city projected that the typhoon would have concentrated impact from the evening of the 26th to the early morning of the 27th, and through the emergency response briefing meeting, activated Level 2 emergency protocols and implemented an employee emergency duty system.

Vice Mayor Kim Neung-sik said, "This typhoon is expected to bring very strong winds," and added, "We will do our utmost to prepare in advance to prevent typhoon damage."
