Suwon to Discuss Gender Equality Policy Direction Online
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City will hold the '2020 Suwon City Gender Equality Policy Online Forum' at 2 p.m. on the 3rd.
The forum will explore mid-to-long-term plans (2021-2025) for gender equality policies and promotion strategies going forward.
The event will be held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Citizens can also participate using video conferencing software (Zoom).
The forum on the topic of 'Suwon City Mid-to-Long-Term Gender Equality Policy' will be conducted with a presentation by Dr. Lee Young-an of the Suwon City Research Institute titled 'How is Suwon City's Mid-to-Long-Term Gender Equality Policy Progressing?' and panel discussions.
The discussions will cover ▲Structural issues of Suwon City's mid-to-long-term gender equality policy ▲Expanding women's representation ▲Strengthening support systems for women's economic activities ▲Current state of gender violence and policy tasks ▲Women's violence prevention education policies ▲Social care policies, and more.
Choi Young-ok, member of the Suwon City Council's Welfare and Safety Committee, will serve as moderator. Cho Young-sook, representative of Suwon Women's Association; Lee Gwi-seon, secretary general of Suwon YWCA; Kim Gyeong-hee, chairperson of Suwon Women Workers' Association; Lee Ji-hee, representative of Suwon Women's Hotline; Kim Hyun-ju, director of Suwon Youth Sexual Rights Center; and Yun Jin-young, representative of Suwon Working Women's Association, will participate as panelists.

The city plans to set the direction of the 'Suwon City Gender Equality Policy Mid-to-Long-Term Basic Plan (2021-2025)' by reflecting opinions from the forum.
A city official stated, "In commemoration of Gender Equality Week (September 1-7), we have prepared an online forum to reflect on the meaning of gender equality and share Suwon City's gender equality policies," adding, "We will strive to work with citizens to develop better policies and promote them actively."
