Suwon to Request Residents to Refrain from Visiting Crowded Places During Social Distancing Period

Kim Yong-deok, director of the Safety and Transportation Bureau of Suwon City, said at a "COVID-19 Implementation Status Report Meeting" held on the 14th at the City Hall Disaster Safety Situation Room, "Citizens are requested to strictly comply with social distancing rules until it is lifted, and refrain from visiting places where large crowds gather."
Director Kim stated, "During the weekend (12th-13th) of the Level 2.5 social distancing period, hiking trails and parks such as Gwanggyo Mountain and Chilbo Mountain were crowded with hikers and visitors. There have also been media reports that many people are hiking without properly wearing masks. We urge you to comply with quarantine rules until COVID-19 comes to an end."
He continued, "After the Suin Line began operating on the 12th in the Suwon to Hanyang University Front Station section, there have been reports of crowded trains as many elderly people are using the Suin Line. We ask that you refrain from using the Suin Line for sightseeing purposes until the COVID-19 situation subsides."
The government announced on the 13th that "the social distancing level for the Capital Region will be eased to Level 2, to be implemented from September 14 to 27." Additionally, September 28 onwards for two weeks has been designated as a "special quarantine period."
Although social distancing has been eased to Level 2, public facility quarantine measures remain identical to "Level 2.5 social distancing." Gatherings and events with 50 or more people indoors or 100 or more people outdoors are prohibited, and public indoor facilities will continue to be closed. Schools and kindergartens will conduct remote classes.
Community centers, senior centers, and centers for disabled persons in Suwon, elderly meeting halls, neighborhood community centers, libraries, art museums, and museums will be closed until 24:00 on September 27. Indoor and outdoor public sports facilities will remain closed until further notice. The book reservation and delivery service at 19 public libraries and the "Book Naru Library" service will operate normally.
