Osan City Posts Final Report of '2035 Urban Master Plan' on City Website
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City announced on the 24th that it has posted the final report of the '2035 Osan Urban Master Plan,' which was approved by Gyeonggi Province on the 1st, on the Osan City website.
The 2035 Osan Urban Master Plan was finalized and approved on the 1st after going through administrative procedures including citizen participation committee operations, public hearings with residents and experts, and deliberation by the Gyeonggi Province Urban Planning Committee. The plan was developed to actively respond to changes in internal and external conditions and convert the city into a sustainable urban area following the target year of the existing 2020 Urban Master Plan.
The Urban Master Plan is the highest-level spatial planning for Osan City, a comprehensive plan that presents the city's basic spatial structure and long-term development direction, and serves as a guideline for establishing urban management plans.
In this plan, the city's future vision was set as 'Circular City, Growing Together Osan' through the results of citizen participation committee activities, resident awareness surveys, and expert consultations. To achieve this vision, three major planning goals, nine promotion strategies, and detailed implementation strategies were presented.
From the initial stages of plan formulation, 85 Osan residents participated as members of the 'Citizen Participation Committee,' discussing current issues and directly setting the city's future vision, actively reflecting citizens' opinions.
Osan City's urban spatial structure, with a total area of 42.707㎢, was established as a multi-nodal linked structure centered on 1 main city center, 2 sub-city centers, and 3 districts, shifting from the existing 1 main city center and 2 regional centers system to pursue balanced urban development through linkage with new development hubs.
The living sphere classification was also adjusted from the existing 3 living spheres to 4 living spheres by dividing the central living sphere into eastern and western living spheres to address population concentration in the central living sphere resulting from the promotion of Segyo Districts 1 and 2.
Additionally, development axes and conservation axes were established, core functions were assigned to each development axis, and strategies for functional enhancement were presented.
