Pyeongtaek Conducts 2020 Census on Population and Housing
[Suwon Ilbo=Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City and the Statistics Korea will conduct the 2020 Census on Population and Housing from the 15th of this month through the 18th of next month, targeting all residents—both Korean and foreign nationals—living in Pyeongtaek and the housing in which they reside.
The Census on Population and Housing is the most important national statistical survey that grasps the scale and characteristics of population, households, and housing among all residents—both Korean and foreign nationals—residing in the Republic of Korea, and serves as the foundation for policy establishment.
Despite concerns over a resurgence of COVID-19, this year's Census on Population and Housing will proceed as planned without postponement or interruption.
To this end, Statistics Korea and the city have introduced new contactless survey methods.
The existing internet survey method has been expanded to mobile. Using a QR code from the notice sent in advance to sample households, residents can conveniently respond to the survey using their smartphones anytime and anywhere. For those having difficulty using the internet, a call center (080-400-2020) is also available for telephone responses.
Internet and telephone surveys will be conducted first from the 15th through October 31st. From November 1st to 18th, approximately 156 surveyors will begin door-to-door visits targeting sample households that did not participate in the survey. Even during door-to-door surveys, contactless survey responses are available upon respondent request.
The survey results will not only serve as a basis for policy establishment but will also be utilized as foundational data for academic research and business management.
The city stated, "Survey data will be used solely for statistical purposes, and information regarding individual households will be strictly protected as confidential under Article 33 of the Statistics Act. We urge the active cooperation of sample target households."
