Osan Mayor Kwak Sang-wook Presents 'Big Data Vehicle Seizure System' as Administrative Innovation Case

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan Mayor Kwak Sang-wook presented an innovative administration case using big data through a presentation titled 'Establishment of a GPS Location-Based Big Data Vehicle Seizure System' at the 8th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Mayors and County Governors Council, held on the 23rd at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

The 'GPS Location-Based Big Data Vehicle Seizure System' analyzes GPS detection location data for delinquent vehicles as big data, tracking the routes of delinquent vehicles to predict their future appearance locations and detect delinquent taxpayers.

When expanded and applied to local governments nationwide, as well as the National Police Agency, the Korea Expressway Corporation, and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, nationwide tracking and management becomes possible.

Currently, Osan City is commercializing the system through patent acquisition.

Mayor Kwak Sang-wook said, "It is important not only for public institutions but also for private companies and citizens to share big data that is already being mass-produced in various fields and to bring about new innovation."

He continued, "We will do our best to promote the GPS Location-Based Big Data Vehicle Seizure System nationwide so that Osan City becomes a representative innovation case city that has introduced big data into administration."

Meanwhile, the heads of 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province attended the 8th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Mayors and County Governors Council and resolved 24 agenda items to be proposed to Gyeonggi Province and the central government.
