Paldal-gu Installs and Tests Forest Fire Suppression System at Bongnyeongsa Temple
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Paldal-gu of Suwon has installed a forest fire suppression system at Bongnyeongsa Temple in Uman-dong and conducted a trial operation on the 10th for performance testing of the facility.
The district determined that it would be difficult to respond quickly in case of fire at Bongnyeongsa, which houses the Stone Triad Buddha designated as Gyeonggi Province Tangible Cultural Property No. 151, and proceeded with installing the forest fire suppression system after consultations with relevant agencies.
Since January of this year, the district secured a budget of 1.77 million won and recently installed a forest fire suppression system consisting of two water curtain towers with a height of 19 meters and a water spray range of 40 meters per unit, a 40-ton water storage tank, and an engine pump.
Kwon Chan-ho, head of Paldal-gu, stated, "It is difficult to prevent forest fires through the efforts of only related agencies and organizations, including administrative bodies," and urged, "I hope that all citizens will participate in passing on our precious forests to future generations through small practices for forest fire prevention."
