Paegtaek City to Conduct Landscape Committee Consultation on Large-Scale Industrial Buildings

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Paegtaek City announced on the 12th that it will conduct landscape committee consultation on large-scale industrial buildings (factories, warehouse facilities, and hazardous material storage and treatment facilities) resulting from new construction or change of use.

Previously, the city had designated private buildings of five or more stories and with a total floor area of 5,000 square meters or more as landscape review subjects based on landscape ordinances (excluding cases where the form and color of buildings are stipulated in district unit plan implementation guidelines), and had carried out review procedures.

Since industrial buildings have high floor heights and lack or have insufficient landscape plans in district unit plan implementation guidelines and determination statements, the city plans to manage industrial buildings being constructed indiscriminately through landscape consultation on a temporary basis until the completion of the landscape ordinance amendment proclamation currently underway, to supplement these issues and systematically manage industrial buildings.

Factories and warehouses have a floor height approximately three times that of general buildings, so even a four-story structure can reach a maximum height of 43 meters, which can damage surrounding landscapes or create a sense of oppression.

Accordingly, the city plans to include industrial buildings, which are relatively weak in management, as subjects of landscape consultation and to maximize the efficiency of systematic landscape review and landscape management, thereby guiding landscape plans that harmonize with surrounding landscapes.
