Pyeongtaek City Holds Final Report Meeting on 4-Year Child-Friendly City Implementation Plan

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City held a final online report meeting on the 4-year child-friendly city implementation plan and preliminary impact assessment at City Hall on the 22nd.

The research project carried out tasks from late July through December to establish Pyeongtaek City's 4-year child-friendly city implementation plan and conduct a preliminary impact assessment.

Following a project kickoff meeting on August 13, an online roundtable discussion was held on September 19 to gather opinions from Pyeongtaek citizens on the child-friendly city initiative.

From October 13 to 26, a two-week survey was conducted to confirm children's needs, and after analyzing children's opinions, the strategic project plan for Pyeongtaek City's child-friendly city was presented through an interim report meeting on November 9.

At the final report meeting, 25 strategic projects across 6 areas of child-friendliness were confirmed based on the coordination and reflection of departmental implementation plans. This will serve as the foundation for deriving supplementary matters related to child-friendly city development and certification promotion.

The meeting was converted to a non-face-to-face format due to COVID-19 spread, with 15 participants including child-friendly city promotion committee members attending the online video conference to discuss Pyeongtaek City's 4-year child-friendly city strategic project plan and provide additional supplementary suggestions and proposals.

A city official stated, "We have gone through a series of implementation procedures for creating a UNICEF child-friendly city, which is an international standard benchmark, to establish a 4-year child-friendly strategic project plan and are now preparing to apply for child-friendly city certification." The official added, "We ask the promotion committee members, who have provided considerable assistance this year, to continue making efforts toward the goal of a child-friendly city, and Pyeongtaek City will move forward accordingly with supplementation and development."
