[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that it will implement an aged water pipe replacement project by investing 3 billion won in business expenses from this month through the end of this year.
The construction areas will initially focus on 16 locations including Won-dong's old downtown area, Sucheon-dong, Eungye-dong, Gwol-dong, and Osan-dong, with plans to select additional project sites.
As downtown areas with heavy traffic and high water consumption are included, the city plans to provide advance construction notices for each section to minimize traffic and water supply disruptions, and will conduct night construction in areas with frequent vehicle traffic such as intersections.
The city stated, "While currently supplying tap water directly to citizens in real time, during aged water pipe replacement work, the actual water pipe network and installation status may differ, which could cause unexpected water outages, discolored water, and poor water flow that could directly harm citizens," and requested citizens' understanding and active cooperation.
Additionally, if foreign substances appear in tap water, the city recommends running the water for a short time to discharge the foreign materials, and if the phenomenon persists, residents can contact the city's Water Supply Division (031-8036-6389) for an on-site visit and remedial measures.
Kim Moon-bae, director of the city's Water Supply Division, said, "We will provide sufficient advance notice to minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by the aged water pipe replacement project and proceed with the business accordingly," and added, "By replacing aging water pipes in a timely manner, we will ensure that citizens can use tap water with confidence."
