Suwon Records Highest Number of Applications for Gyeonggi Province's Second Disaster Basic Income

[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun] The application rate for Gyeonggi Province's second disaster basic income, which provides 100,000 won per capita to all residents, has reached 91.0%. This came just over 40 days after applications began.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 15th, as of 11 p.m. on the 14th of last month since the start of applications on March 1, the number of Gyeonggi residents who applied for the second disaster basic income reached 12.232 million 556. This corresponds to 91.0% of the province's total population of 13.438 million 238.

By payment method, 8.189 million 85 people applied via credit or debit card, four times more than 2.045 million 370 people who applied via Gyeonggi regional currency.

Online applications totaled 10.234 million 455, while in-person applications were 1.998 million 101, showing that online applicants were roughly five times more numerous.

By city and county, Suwon led with 1.104 million 131 applicants, followed by Yongin with 984,331, Goyang with 961,042, and Seongnam with 832,638.

Regarding the application rate relative to the target population, Pocheon led at 93.6%, followed by Suwon at 93.1%, Hwaseong at 92.8%, Yangju at 92.5%, and Osan at 92.4%.

To receive the second disaster basic income online, applicants must apply through the Second Gyeonggi Disaster Basic Income application homepage (basicincome.gg.go.kr) by 11 p.m. on March 31.

In-person applications have been available since March 1 and will continue to be available until April 30, even after the online application period ends. Weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the administrative welfare center of the eup, myeon, or dong corresponding to one's registered address. Note that from March 29 onwards, Saturday operations will not be available.

The usage period for Gyeonggi Province's second disaster basic income is three months from the receipt of the usage authorization text.

However, for those who receive the usage authorization text after April 1, the usage deadline is June 30.

The second disaster basic income can be used at Gyeonggi regional currency-participating businesses with annual sales of 1 billion won or less within the city or county of one's registered address. Users can pay as they would with a regular credit or debit card, and the amount is automatically deducted from the disaster basic income at regional currency merchant locations.
