Pastor Kim Jin-hong's Morning Meditation May, the Month of Family
No matter how much the world shakes and difficulties arise, when the family is stable and strong, stability and happiness begin from there.
The human body contains over 50 trillion cells. Cells are the foundation that comprises the body.
The family serves as the cell of life in society. The same is true for the church. A healthy church begins with healthy families.
That is why Dure Church has had pastoral guidelines from the beginning.
'A church like family, a family like church.' The church should be as warm as a family, and the family should be as reverent as a church.
However, our society has not achieved this. Families are shaken and churches lack reverence.
Therefore, true reform begins with building families.
Several years ago, the National Intelligence Service conducted a survey on the sense of crisis felt by the Korean people. The results were unexpected.
The first crisis people felt directly was the family. The family being shaken to its roots was the primary crisis the Korean people perceived.
The second was North Korea's nuclear weapons. And the third appeared as social conflict.
At first glance, one might think North Korea's nuclear threat would be felt as the primary crisis, but the people take the crisis in families more seriously.
Stable families and reverent churches are the starting point for social stability. As May arrives, the most important task is to build strong and happy families.
Christianity is fundamentally a faith of filial piety (孝). It places respect for parents at the forefront of human relationships.
While Confucianism also teaches filial piety, it emphasizes ancestral rites after death. When it comes to serving elderly parents during their lifetime, Christianity is foremost.
Nowadays, many place their elderly parents in nursing homes.
Even if this becomes necessary, one must choose a good nursing facility. One should select a nursing home that, with biblical faith, cares for parents as if they were their own.
If possible, caring for them personally would be most biblical.
