Pyeongtaek City Strengthens Crackdown on Illegal Garbage Dumping in Intensive Management Areas

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Pyeongtaek City announced on the 15th that it has launched illegal garbage disposal crackdown operations this month to establish a culture of proper waste disposal as part of the 'Clean Pyeongtaek Together' project.

The city has selected 121 intensive management areas for illegal dumping in each eup, myeon, and dong through a comprehensive survey of garbage collection points, identifying areas with vulnerable waste disposal conditions.

The city has also deployed Clean Pyeongtaek guardians on-site to promote proper disposal times, use of pay-per-use garbage bags, and separate recycling, while continuously conducting crackdowns on illegal garbage dumping.

The city plans to implement strong administrative measures in intensive management areas, including not collecting garbage marked with illegal disposal stickers for a certain period, inspecting garbage bags to identify violators, and imposing fines.

In addition, the city plans to cooperate with eup, myeon, and dong offices and waste collection and transport companies to designate intensive management areas quarterly and conduct focused crackdowns, while minimizing residential complaints from illegal disposal, improving vulnerable dumping sites, and continuously promoting clean Pyeongtaek projects including expanding clean house installations.
