Yongin City Commends 25 Environmental Contributors on 26th Environment Day
[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun] Yongin City announced on the 8th that it presented commendation certificates to 25 contributors on the occasion of the 26th Environment Day at the Ace Hall on the 3rd floor of City Hall.
The 25 recipients of commendations on that day included Kim Eun-kyung and Lee Sam-young from the Yongin branch of the nonprofit Environmental Alliance 21, among others.
Among them, Kim Eun-kyung and Lee Sam-young received commendations from the Gyeonggi Province Governor in recognition of their contributions to environmental activism for protecting ecological environments.
Ahn Chung-su, vice chairman of the Yongin branch of the Wildlife Management Association, received a commendation from the mayor for contributions to preventing African swine fever, and Seo Jeong-il, member of the Special Investigation Committee on Uncontrolled Development, and Lee Geun-hwa, Environmental Monitoring Committee member, also received mayoral commendations in recognition of efforts to prevent uncontrolled development and promote proper waste separation.
They were selected through recommendations from environmental organizations including Environmental Alliance 21 and Yongin Environmental Justice, and rigorous screening, in recognition of their contributions across various fields including environmental education and fine dust reduction.
Mayor Baek Kun-ki said, "I am grateful to the contributors who voluntarily dedicate themselves to environmental protection for future generations," and added, "We will explore ways to build related infrastructure and expand environmental education programs so that more citizens can participate in environmental issues."
